King Philip Television Production Awards

KPTV Earns Associated Press Top Prize

The High School's TV Production program was awarded first place in High School TV News for their work on the "Wake Up Warriors" show by the Associated Press New England Chapter. Massachusetts AP President Tom Jay called their work outstanding. He expressed that the panel of judges (the Board of Directors of the Mass. Associated Press Broadcasters Association) were very impressed particularly by senior Adam LaBrie. "One executive said he would bet Adam will be doing stand-up for CNN in 10 years", said Jay.

The KPTV Production Staff was invited to attend the AP Regional Awards Dinner where a sampling of their work was viewed by the audience, a thrilling moment for the students, their parents and one very proud teacher, Mrs. Greenleaf. The students that submitted work to the contest were: Adam Labrie, Renae Lessard, Ian Sullivan, Brittney Smith, Phil Rose, Ryan Stephens, Bill Teiner, Rich Bregnard, Greg Wood, Michaela Knyff, Lauren Doughty, Hayley Carloni, and Kristina Carucci.

The Wake Up Warriors production staff logs countless hours in the classroom perfecting their craft. Creative thinking, writing, acting, gathering footage, and editing are all part of the very complex, collective process. Hard work and dedication really does pay off!

Best wishes to the TV Production seniors that are pursuing careers in the field. Renae Lessard is attending Fitchburg State for Broadcast Journalism and Adam LaBrie is attending Flordia State for film and media production. We hope their KPTV experience will serve them well.
