Templum Saturni

Only eight granite columns remain.
The Roman national treasure was kept there.
Religious ceremonies were conducted here during the festival of Saturnalia each December.



Via Sacra

This road through the Forum was lined with many monuments and arches.
Military processions, called "Triumphs", were led through the Forum ending at the foot of the Capitoline Hill and the Temple of Jupiter. Prisoners of war and captured treasure were put on display to commemorate the Roman victory.

The Vestal Virgins maintained the sacred fire of Rome.
Romans believed that the flames kept Rome safe.

Imperator Titus

Titus was the elder son of Vespasian and ruled from 79-81 AD.
The Arch was dedicated to him after his death to honor his military victories in Judea.
