Grades

** Extra credit projects are not acceptable as make up for low grades. The student should make every effort to seek extra help whenever low grades indicate the need.

Term Grade:

Chapter tests, quizzes, writing assignments and projects will account for approximately 85-90% of each term grade. I do not drop the lowest grade. Upcoming tests and quizzes are announced and written on the side board in my room. Unannounced quizzes are given very infrequently.

Homework Grade:

Written homework assignments will count for approximately 10-15% of the term grade. This is usually equal in grade weighting to a major test.

To receive full credit (100), the assignment must be complete on the assigned date. I expect you to correct your errors as we go over the homework. If you do not, I will reduce your grade for that assignment to 50.

If the homework is not complete on the day it is due, you will receive a zero. If you complete the homework and hand it in the following day, you may receive up to 1/2 credit for it. It will be your responsibility to give me the missed assignment. I will not take up valuable class time to ask you for it. If the assignment is not handed in on the second day, the zero grade will remain.

Remember, doing all assignments on time and correcting your errors is equal to receiving an A on a major test. This makes a difference in the final grade for the term and is within your power to control.

Progress Reports

Progress reports will be issued to all students every term. See the handbook for approximate dates. Parents must sign and return reports when the grade is C- or lower. It is okay to e-mail me to acknowledge receipt of the report. Students will be assigned an office detention if I do not receive word from parents that they are aware of the poor grade.
