Course objectives and description:

To develop a functional skill in reading and comprehending Latin texts
To make connections between the two cultures
To study grammatical principles in Latin which transfer to English
To broaden and deepen the students' English vocabulary through the study of word origins
To acquire an excellent basis for the study of modern Romance languages
To study the language, customs, and world view of a society from a different time and place than our own

The course will utilize two textbooks, Cambridge Latin Unit I and Unit II.

In order to integrate culture with language, the following themes will be studied in Stages 1-16.
