SPANISH CLUB

The Spanish Club invites any student interested in learning more about el mundo hispanohablante and el español to join our club.

Advisors: Katie Brenneis, Sonja Swain, Alison Dumoch

Description: All seventh and eighth grade students are invited to join the Middle School Spanish club and participate in various activities throughout the year.  Activities generally take place twice a month on Tuesdays after school. A small dues is paid to cover costs of refreshments and supplies as necessary. 

Offered: Sept-June Bi- weekly 2:15-3:00
 

Number of Sessions: approximately 20
 

Cost for Participation:  This years dues are $10.00.  

 We do lots of different activities throughout the year including:


Preparing different foods and drinks-
  we have made grape sangria, mexican hot chocolate,
                         different kinds of salsa, and a variety of tapas from Spain
Craft projects- we made piñatas for navidad, masks for 3 kings day, valentines cards for our 
                          amigos en honduras
Trips- we have dinner in a mexican restaurant to practice ordering in Spanish and to try new 
                         foods
Fiestas-we have ocasional fiestas for different holidays throughout the year


Global outreach- Each year we sponsor a Peace Corps Partnership Project and fundraise to
                      send money to this worthy cause. This year's special project is to raise money for
                      a rural community in Honduras which needs a potable water system.. The
                      money will go towards assisting villagers in building a potable water system to
                      improve their system of getting clean water to the people.
